]]> Malin Head, located on the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal, is the northernmost point of the island of Ireland. It is a place that evokes a sense of tranquillity with its natural rugged beauty. Award winning photographer, Paul Killeen (@PKilleenPhoto) made repeated trips to Malin Head in search of the perfect light to capture a piece of its magic. Paul finally achieved the desired result with the last rays of the setting Sun, capturing the mystical nature of this stunning seascape.

You might recognise Fionn’s name from the famous myth ‘The Salmon of Knowledge’, in which he gains all the wisdom in the world from a magical salmon. While cooking the salmon for his master, Fionn burns his fingers, and after putting his burnt fingers in his mouth he is bestowed with the knowledge of the salmon. Featuring vivid colours and an intricate design inspired by Celtic art, this puzzle would look wonderful on a wall once completed!

]]> The world-famous Giant´s Causeway (irish: Chlochán an Aifir) on the County Antrim coast is an amazing formation of around 40.000 interlocking basalt columns arising from the sea. Hexagonal in shape and somre rising to 12 metres in height, they were created by rapidly cooling lava from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago.

The Giant´s Causeway is said to have been built by Fionn Mac Cumhaill (or ‘Finn Mac Cool’) when a Scottish giant, Benandonner was threatening to invade Ireland. In a fit of rage, Fionn threw the columns into the sea to create a path to Scotland, where he defeated Benandonner in combat. The Giant´s Causeway is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nearby is the breathtaking Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, wich was built by salmon fishermen in 1755 to connect Carrick Island with the mainland. The bridge is 20 metres long and sways 30 metres above the ocean. Crossing it is both thrilling and nervewracking.

Also close to the Giant´s Causeway, on the sheer cliffs east of Portrush, is the spectacular Dunluce Castle. Built around 1500 and the site of incredible battles, it is location for Castle Greyjoy in Game of Thrones.

]]> The Mizen Head (Irish: Carn Uí Néid), the most southerly point of the irish mainland, has been the location for countless dramatic episodes in Irish maritime history. Numerous shipwrecks in the area led to the construction of the magnificent Fastnet Rock Lighthouse (replacing a lighthouse built in 1854 that could not withstand the power of the ocean).

Perched on a rock 6.5 kilometres southwest of Cape Clear Island, County Cork, it took eight years to build, and first displayed its light in 1904. The iconic granite tower rises to 54 metres, and is the tallest lighthouse on the irish coast. The world-famous annual Fastnet Yacht Race goes round the rock before the sailors head back to the isle of Wight 550 kilometres away.

Overlooking the Fastnet Lighthouse, the Mizen Head Fog-Signal Station was built in 1909. Located on an island separated from the mainland by just 52 metres, acces to the station is by footbridge 45 metres above the sea. Because Mizen Head was established as a fog-signal station, it remained without a light until 1959, when a buoy lantern was launched.

Today, the fog-signal station is a very popular visitor centre called the Mizen Vision, and the area is renowned for whale-watching.
